Music Composer News

Each student is required to research a music composer from Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Twentieth Century Eras. Each student must research their composer thoroughly and use the template below as a guide to create the composer newspaper. Each composer newspaper must include the following: Newspaper ­ (30 points) 2 page minimum( including the front page) Pictures­ ( 20 points) a minimum of 2 pictures to be inserted in the newspaper Composer information (30 points): Early Life Music Contributions Important Music Role this composer played How this composer's’ music affected the community in which he/she lived Is the composer still living? How has this person’s music remembered today? Newspaper layout: ( 20 points): Neat and organized. Information presented well written and thorough. Information covers the life of the composer from beginning to end.

 

Standard: History and Culture Standard 5: The student will examine and perform music from a variety of historical periods and cultures. Indicators MC8­5.1 Sing a diverse repertoire of music from various historical periods and cultures. MC8­5.2 Compare and classify exemplary musical works by genre, style, historical period, composer, and title, including cultures represented in the history of South Carolina. MC8­5.3 Examine the various uses of music in daily experiences and describe the characteristics that make the music suitable for the particular use. MC8­5.4 Describe the historic roles of musicians in various music settings and cultures and throughout the history of South Carolina. MC8­5.5 Design and apply a rubric for assessing the appropriate audience and performer behavior for the context and style of the particular music that was performed.

 

Goals: The students will be able to compare and contrast musicians from early eras of music to musicians today. By creating a newspaper on a composer, students will use a different methodology of presenting theirour users know a little more about you.
